Enriching the Lives of Senior Citizens in Our Communities
Adopt a Mom and Pop Inc, a nonprofit, 501(C)(3) mission is to enhance and inspire the lives of senior citizens by establishing lasting relationships to combat loneliness, social isolation, provide resources and promote balanced activities.
Adopt a Mom and Pop was begun on October 29, 2008, when the founder realized her passion of caring and working with senior citizens. When her dad was dealing with dementia, it confirmed her need to be involved in the lives of the aging members of the community. She discovered that many people, through fear of the unknown, or lack of experience with dementia, are hesitant to volunteer to help these individuals.
Adopt a Mom and Pop volunteers visit senior citizens at their homes, assisted livings, nursing homes and community meeting places throughout Alpharetta and the metro area. They also connect with seniors by phone or video platform.
Adopt a Mom and Pop is becoming a familiar organization in metro Atlanta. Since the inception, the organization has reached out to over 2,000 senior citizens by hosting bible studies, bingo games, tea parties, group visitations , one on one visitations, luaus, "Happy Hours", fashion shows, cooking classes, banquets, gospel concerts, birthday parties, and beauty sessions including hair cuts and washes, developing a stylish way to dress using clothes donations. The possibilities are endless!
We believe in the power of connecting with our seniors in order to enrich their lives, foster hope and give them purpose. We need to protect our aging, because they are the voices of our experiences.

The impact of COVID-19 on seniors
During May 2020, Adopt a Mom and Pop understood the need to connect with senior citizens that found themselves locked in due to a pandemic that was taking the lives of so many. As a result, Adopt a Mom and Pop initiated a weekly call program to ensure that our seniors were ok. The call's objective was to let them know that they were not forgotten, to make sure they had a friendly voice to encourage them and to recommend some form of stimulating activities to keep them engaged.
We are striving to continue to help seniors who are still suffering from the effect of Covid-19, so that they do not feel alone and isolated.
